After the Second World War and the Yugoslav wars, open war is raging again on the European continent causing inconceivable loss and suffering. Hungary mourns the victims of the war, expresses condolences for the hundreds of thousands of widows and orphans, assists Ukraine in caring for the injured and disabled of the war, supports through the biggest humanitarian assistance programme in its history those millions who have lost everything or become refugees, and actively contributes to Ukraine’s energy security as well as its reconstruction.
According to Hungary’s firm position, the conflict has no military solution. The war must not be extended or escalated, it must be ended. Hungary supports immediate ceasefire and peace talks and calls on the parties at war to act accordingly.
Safeguarding the sovereignty of Ukraine is in Hungary’s elementary interest, and the Government of Hungary will continue to strongly support it at all relevant fora.
